COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Ray Turner and Elston Turner Jr. sent No. 25 Texas A&M to a quick start Wednesday on its way to a 64-37 whipping of Sam Houston State.
The Aggies (7-1) opened a 16-4 lead and limited the Bearkats to 15 field goals. Texas A&M has held each of its last four opponents to fewer than 45 points.
Ray Turner scored 15 points with 10 rebounds. Elston Turner Jr. -- son of Houston Rockets assistant Coach Elston Turner Sr., and a transfer from the University of Washington -- had 14 points.
Texas A&M owned a 31-17 lead at halftime and put together a nine-point run early in the second period.
Sam Houston (3-6) was led by Demarcus Gatlin with 13 points.
The Aggies have won 66 straight home games against non-conference foes. The teams have met 83 times, with Texas A&M winning the last 17.
