NEW YORK, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski won his 903rd career game Tuesday, setting an NCAA record with sixth-ranked Blue Devils' 74-69 win over Michigan State.

Krzyzewski bypassed former mentor Bobby Knight for the most wins by a college basketball coach in NCAA Division I history with his latest victory, which came in the Champions Challenge at Madison Square Garden.

An array of former Duke players under Krzyzewski, including Shane Battier, Carlos Boozer and Chris Duhon, attended the contest.

Keith Appling led the Spartans (0-2) with 22 points. Adreian Payne hauled down 12 rebounds in the loss.
