COL BKB: Pittsburgh 89, Albany 56

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Senior Travon Woodall had a career performance with 25 points, 10 assists and six rebounds Friday, pacing No. 11 Pittsburgh to an 89-56 win over Albany.

Woodall averaged just 6.5 points a contest in 34 games with the Panthers last year. His breakout effort Friday sent Pittsburgh to a 21-point halftime lead.

Ashton Gibbs, Pittsburgh's leading scorer last season, added 21 points and seven assists. The Panthers won the Big East regular-season championship in 2010-11, but lost to Butler in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Albany was led by Gerardo Suero with 17 points.

Pittsburgh shot 54 percent from the field and held the Great Danes to 3-of-17 from 3-point range. The only previous meeting between the schools came eight years ago, a game won by Pittsburgh.
