LOUISVILLE, Ky., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- University of Louisville athletic officials said Friday highly touted freshman Wayne Blackshear would miss the entire basketball season with a shoulder injury.

Blackshear, selected as a member of the McDonald's High School All-American team last season, suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder during practice. He will require surgery.

As a high school senior in the Chicago area, Blackshear averaged 32.6 points, 14.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.

Louisville is ranked eighth in the pre-season poll of college coaches.
