Sachenbacher-Stehle has completed five biathlon events for Germany in the Sochi Olympics, including a race Monday where she came in fourth. She tested positive Tuesday and found out about the results Thursday.
“I am living through my worst nightmare right now,” Sachenbacher-Stehle said in a statement through the spokesman of the German ski federation. “I cannot explain to myself where the positive sample generated from.” She vowed to do everything in her power to "clear up this case."
Frullani, who was scheduled to compete in the four-man bobsled for Italy, tested positive for the stimulant dimethylpentylamine. These two are not the only ones to leave the games due to doping. Two biathletes from Russia and one from Lithuania tested positive for banned substances as well.
According to the IOC, 2,453 doping tests will be administered by the end of the games.
