SOCHI, Russia, Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin casually shamed the Russian hockey team and the referees after a disallowed goal led to a U.S. win.

When T.J. Oshie led Team U.S.A. to a 3-2 win over Russia, it became one of the biggest stories of the Games, especially since the referees disallowed a Russian goal which made some people, including the Russian president, dispute the call and the win.

"Even referees sometimes makes mistakes, here I wouldn't tar anybody with any brush, but I thought that we would win by a big margin," said Putin about the referee's call. He also added a passive-aggressive note directed towards his country's hockey team laced with disappointment that they did not win by a "big margin."

The Russian hockey team will most likely be aiming for wider margin wins in the future.
