Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Cristiano Ronaldo opened the CR7 museum on Sunday in Funchal where more than 50 objects are on display.

The museum includes honors he has achieved at club level, and individual trophies such as the Ballon d’Or, the FIFA World Player award he won in 2008, the European Golden Shoe from the 2007-08 season and many family and personal photos.

"It’s a chance for everyone who likes Cristiano Ronaldo to get to know me better: my fans and the people of Madeira where I grew up and where I spent my childhood," Ronaldo said. "It’s really wonderful and a source of pride and excitement. I hope to win many more titles and trophies. I’m happy, excited and thrilled."

Ronaldo's brother Hugo had the idea in 2008 to open the museum. Ronaldo has been criticized in the past for having a large ego. However, Ronaldo has also donated money to many charities and humanitarian causes.
