UEFA Europa League roundup

Dec. 13 (UPI) -- Forty-eight teams took to the field Thursday night in UEFA Europa League action.

The Europa League is European soccer's secondary tournament behind the UEFA Champions League.

Group A saw St. Gallen beat Swansea City 1-0 and Spanish outfit Valencia drew 1-1 with Kuban Krasnodar.

Group B action pitted Dinamo Zagreb against Ludogorets Razgrad, with the final score being a Razgrad 2-1 victory. PSV Eindhoven also lost to Chornomorets 0-1.

Standard Liege lost 1-3 to Elfsborg and SV Salzburg defeated Esbjerg 3-0 in Group C.

In Group D, NK Maribor beat England's Wigan Athletic 2-1. FK Rubin Kazan of Russia put two goals past Zulte-Waregem to win 2-0.

Italy' Fiorentina won their Group E match against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 2-1, while Pandurii Targu-Jiu and Pacos de Ferreira drew 0-0.

German side Eintracht Frankfurt ran out with a 2-0 victory over Cypriot side Apoel Nicosia. France's Bordeaux stumbled at Israel's Maccabi Tel-Aviv 0-1 in Group F.

Group G's Dynamo Kiev won 3-1 versus Rapid Vienna while FC Thun lost 0-1 to Racing Genk.

Group H saw Estoril fall to Liberec 1-2 and Spanish outfit Sevilla win 2-0 against SC Freiburg.

Guimaraes and Lyon went head to head in Group I with Lyon taking the spoils of victory after winning 2-1. Real Betis and Rijeka played to a 0-0 draw.

In Group J Apollon Limassol lost 0-2 to Legia Warsaw while Italy's Lazio and Turkey's Trabzonspor ended their match 0-0.

Group K had Sheriff Tiraspol win 2-0 over Tromso while Tottenham Hotspur won big against Russia's Anzhi Makhachkala 4-1.

Finally, in Group L Maccabi Haifa of Israel won 2-1 against Shakhter Karagandy. PAOK Salonika of Greece drew 2-2 with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
