Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene in a small southwestern town of Idaho, 30 minutes from Boise.
"It's a horrible ... it's a terrible thing," Idaho State Police Sgt. John Burke said. "The family (of the deceased child) is devastated. They need our prayers and all we can do is hope they can get through it." Burke added however that it was too early to determine what went wrong and who was at fault.
Daniel Robert Cook, 11, died of blunt force trauma when the truck smashed into the bus.
The investigation is now underway but authorities have said it could take weeks. The dump truck supposedly did no have a stop sign in the intersection where it hit the bus. The bus allegedly did have a stop sign in its path.
