The New Orleans Pelicans made a "lucrative, four-year offer to Tyreke Evans" in a meeting Sunday evening.

The free agent would earn $44 million under the contract. Should Evans accept the offer, his current team, the Sacramento Kings, will have the option to match his offer.

New Orleans is pushing for success in the first year with the new Pelicans moniker. The team already had Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon, and added Jrue Holiday on draft night.

Evans averaged 15.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals last season, playing in 65 games.
