June 27 (UPI) -- Aaron Hernandez is charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd and is being held without bail in a case that could end his NFL career.

The judge issued a gag order Wednesday after Hernandez's arraignment.

Key pieces of evidence have arisen since his arrest, including a set of text messages from Lloyd to his sister and a potential motive for Hernandez.

The following text messages came minutes before Lloyd's murder.

Lloyd (3:07 a.m.): "Did you see who I am with?"
[no response]
Lloyd (3:11 a.m.): "Hello?"
Sister (3:19 a.m.): "My phone was dead. Who?"
Lloyd (3:22 a.m.): "NFL."
Lloyd (3:23 a.m.): "Just so you know."

Lloyd's sister saw him leave the house with three men including Hernandez at 2:30 a.m., the prosecution said. Lloyd was murdered between 3:23 a.m. and 3:27 a.m. Workers in a nearby plant reportedly heard gunshots. Lloyd's body was found in an industrial park by a jogger at 5:30 p.m. the next day.

Earlier Thursday, Hernandez was linked to a 2012 double-murder in Boston. Investigators said that Hernandez and a group of friends got into a fight last year with two men, Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, at a Boston bar.

Abreu and Furtado were shot and killed in a car while stopped at a stoplight. A third passenger riding in the back seat was wounded but survived.

Police say Lloyd may have known Hernandez was involved in the shooting, which may have been his motive in killing Lloyd.

Hernandez has been questioned several times by police since a car rented in his name was tied to the murder on June 18. He was arrested and arraigned Wednesday for a charge of first-degree murder and five other weapons charges.

News about Hernandez's connection to the 2012 murder was broken Thursday.
