Police in SCUBA gear prepare to search water near Hernandez's home

June 24 (UPI) -- Police have reportedly shown up near the home of Aaron Hernandez wearing SCUBA gear and wielding metal detectors.


The officers are searching a creek near Hernandez's home.


Hernandez was tied to the homicide of Odin Lloyd last week after an SUV rented in his name was linked to the crime scene.

Police have questioned Hernandez and searched his home, and have written up an unissued arrest warrant for obstruction of justice after Hernandez destroyed his cell phone and home security system.

Hernandez has not been named a suspect, but has not yet been ruled out.

Police are likely searching for the murder weapon, presumably a gun. Lloyd was found in an industrial park near Hernandez's home with gunshot wounds, and police said he appeared to have been dumped there.
