Roger Federer breezed through his first match of Wimbledon, defeating Romanian Victor Hanescu.

The win, which Federer finished 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, was played on Centre Court on Monday. The result moves Federer closer to his eighth Wimbledon title. He won his first title 10 years ago, and should he win his eighth, he will break the record for most wins at the All England Tennis Club.

Federer, 31, is the defending champion. Last year he tied the record for seven wins, held by tennis veterans William Renshaw and Pete Sampras.

He will likely face Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic on the way to win the 2013 title.
