June 24 (UPI) -- Dwyane Wade is taking a rest after his Miami Heat won their second-consecutive NBA title.

A recurring knee problem hurt Wade so much that he required eight hours of gameday therapy so he could play in Game 7, including having his left knee drained. His right knee nearly kept him out of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, and he had to receive plasma therapy during the regular season to treat a trio of bone bruises under the kneecap.

Wade's therapy paid off, as he is now a three-time NBA champion. But for several games, he had to tape his kneecap in place to keep it from rubbing on the bone bruises.

This summer, he is set to try several therapies for his knee, but does not anticipate having to resort to surgery.

“There will be a few treatments, but it won’t be surgery,” he said. “A lot of rest is going to be key for them. I’m going to treat my knees very well this summer.”
