Clayton Kershaw blamed The Los Angeles Dodgers for leaking information about an ongoing deal that would make him the best paid pitcher in baseball history.

Fox Sports reported Saturday that Kershaw and the Dodgers were "making progress" toward a 7-year contract extension that would reportedly be worth more than the record $180 million, seven year contract between the Detroit Tigers and Justin Verlander.

"I think the reason we've been able to continue discussions for this long is that it's not been talked about," Kershaw said about the leak of the contract. "And now that I'm having to talk about it, it's a distraction because people are talking about it. I guess you'll have to talk to the Dodgers as to why it came out now. I don't love the fact that I have to talk about it."

Though the baseball star wouldn't comment on the details of his extension he did add that the leak didn't come from his negotiation team.

"It didn't come from our side," Kershaw said. "I'm going to still hold up my end of the bargain and not talk about it."
