Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster was not invited to attend the 2017 NFL Draft in Philadelphia.

ESPN reported Foster was not on the NFL's prospect invitation list. He is not prohibited from buying a ticket to be present for the first round, but because of his involvement in an argument with a physician at the scouting combine in February, the All-American will not be allowed to otherwise participate in the event.

"I don't make excuses. I'm a real dude," Foster told NFL Network. "I try to be a good person. ... I just hope the coaches understand and that's all I can hope and pray for."

Foster is projected as a first-round pick by NFLDraftScout.com. One anonymous NFL scout named Foster the best player in the 2017 draft in a poll of 16 evaluators by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn earlier in the week.

Foster sent all 32 NFL teams a letter of apology and was roundly endorsed by college coach Nick Saban as a high-character leader with the Crimson Tide.
