Northwestern is expected to announce on Tuesday that it has signed basketball coach Chris Collins and football coach Pat Fitzgerald to contact extensions, multiple media outlets reported Monday.

The extension for Collins is particularly significant because there was speculation he might leave for another job after taking Northwestern to the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

Collins' extension runs through 2024-25, the Chicago Tribune reported, based on a source, and the basketball coach will receive a significant raise to more than $3 million per year.

The Wildcats have a 73-60 record in Collins' four season as head coach, but getting to the NCAA Tournament this year was the major breakthrough.

Fitzgerald's extension is for 10 years, according to multiple reports, which means it would run through the 2026 season.

Fitzgerald has a 139-77 record in 11 seasons at Northwestern, and the Wildcats have played in seven bowl games in that span.
