American skiing star Lindsey Vonn suffered a broken right arm in a training crash on Thursday and underwent surgery later that night.

Vonn revealed Friday on her Facebook page that she suffered a severe break of the humerus bone in her right arm in the crash on the slopes at Copper Mountain, Colo., located between Denver and Vail. She posted X-ray pictures of the break.

"I had successful surgery last night in Vail and everyone took great care of me," Vonn wrote. "While I am beyond frustrated by this latest setback, at least my knees are OK and I will return to the slopes as soon as possible, as I always do!"

The reference to her knees is due to serious injuries to both knees in the past. The most well-known injury is when Vonn tore her right ACL in November 2013, causing her to miss the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Vonn won a gold medal in women's downhill at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. It marked the first time an American woman had ever won the event.

The 32-year-old will attempt to qualify for the 2018 Olympics in South Korea.
