EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz sustained a sprained ankle midway through the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cruz, who is questionable to return, reeled in a 46-yard reception to help set up a scoring drive that ended on a 1-yard touchdown pass to Odell Beckham Jr. to give the Giants a 21-10 lead at MetLife Stadium.

Cruz, who had been a staple of the Giants' 11 personnel set, saw his snaps slightly reduced, particularly on running plays, where the Giants worked in receivers Dwayne Harris and Robert Lewis Jr. to help with the blocking.

Cruz, who turns 30 this coming week, is in his first season back in almost two years following a torn patellar tendon sustained in 2014 against the Eagles. He also had a calf injury last summer.

Also on Sunday, New York left guard Justin Pugh suffered a sprained right knee during the first quarter. His return was doubtful.

Pugh was injured on the Giants' first series in the second quarter when he went to block for running back Paul Perkins. The Giants' offensive line was pushed back and Pugh, who has been the most consistent offensive lineman this season, appeared to have his leg rolled up on.

Second-year player Bret Jones, a former CFL standout, replaced Pugh in the lineup.

Pugh walked off the field gingerly and was taken inside for further tests.

Philadelphia also lost a player when safety Terrence Brooks suffered a hamstring strain in the third quarter. Brooks' return was announced as doubtful by the Eagles.

Brooks, a third-year player out of Florida State who primarily works in the Eagles' sub packages, was injured on the Giants' first scoring drive of the third quarter which put them up 28-17 in the game. He was spotted leaving the field with a very noticeable limp.
