The Washington Redskins promoted running back Mack Brown from the practice squad on Friday to add depth at the position.

Running back Matt Jones did not practice Wednesday and Thursday because of a knee injury as the Redskins prepare for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals in London.

Brown, 25, has spent the entire 2016 season on the practice squad after a preseason performance in which he collected an NFL-high 227 rushing yards.

Brown originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Houston Texans in 2015 before two different practice squad stints in Washington last season. During his four-year career at the University of Florida, Brown had 805 rushing yards on 201 carries with four touchdowns.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Redskins waived recently signed safety Josh Evans.

Evans joined the Redskins after spending his first three NFL seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him in the sixth-round of the 2013 draft out of Florida.
