Chicago Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer is undergoing surgery on his broken left arm. The 31-year-old Hoyer will miss at least eight weeks and could be placed on injured reserve, a source told ESPN's Adam Caplan on Sunday.
Hoyer suffered the injury in the second quarter of Thursday night's 26-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers when he was hit by linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers on a third-down pass attempt.
Hoyer was 4 of 11 for 49 yards before he left the field with 10:03 left before halftime. He was replaced by Matt Barkley, who finished 6 of 15 for 81 yards with two interceptions. Jay Cutler has not yet been medically cleared from his right thumb injury.
Hoyer recorded 300-plus passing yards with no interceptions in each of his previous four starts -- a first in Bears history.
