ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed returned to practice on Wednesday in a yellow non-contact jersey, the latest step forward in a return from a concussion

That's a positive sign for Reed, who met with an independent neurologist on Tuesday after sustaining his sixth documented concussion on Oct. 9 at Baltimore.

But he also admitted to taking a hit to the head with 13:52 left in the third quarter and remaining on the field despite knowing he had likely suffered another concussion. Reed even caught another pass two plays later and stayed in the game throughout.

Reed took a concussion test with an independent neurologist last Tuesday in the aftermath of the Baltimore game.

"I was feeling kind of nauseous and irritable and stuff like that, had a headache," Reed said. "I took the concussion test and did pretty bad on it."

Reed signed a five-year, $46.750 million contract extension in May and $22 million of that is guaranteed. That extension kicks in next season while Reed plays out the final year of his rookie contract.

Reed is scheduled to meet with an independent neurologist on Friday to determine his status for Sunday's game against Detroit.
