Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia made the announcement Friday.

Pujols finished with a .268 batting average, 31 home runs and 119 RBIs, beginning the season 15th all time in home runs. It was his 14th season with 30 or more homers and 13th year with at least 105 RBIs.

Pujols sits 20th on the career RBI list with 1,817 and could move into the top 10 in that category. He is 100 RBIs behind 10th-place Eddie Murray. He is also 15th with 602 doubles, one behind Cal Ripken Jr. for 14th.
