PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Pirates left fielder Gregory Polanco left Friday's game in the first inning after crashing into the outfield wall.

With two outs, Washington's Bryce Harper hit a double to left that was nearly a homer. Polanco leaped to try to catch the ball, crashing left-side-first into the wall, then falling to the warning track. He got up slowly, was attended to by trainer Todd Tomczyk and manager Clint Hurdle, then came out of the game.

The club said Polanco, who leads Pittsburgh with 85 RBIs, has a facial contusion.

Polanco, normally the Pirates' right fielder, was playing left because Starling Marte is out of the lineup because of a back ailment.
