The Minnesota Vikings released their first official depth chart for the regular season on Tuesday, and there was one surprise: Shaun Hill is listed as the first-team quarterback while Sam Bradford is on the second team.

The other expected starters, including running back Adrian Peterson, are all listed with the first team. With that in mind, it appears Hill - and not Bradford - will be the Vikings' starting quarterback when they open the season on the road against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday (1 p.m. ET).

When Minnesota acquired Bradford in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, it was assumed he would be the Vikings' starter after Teddy Bridgewater sustained a season-ending knee injury in practice.

But on further reflection, the designation of Hill as the starter makes sense. Bradford has been with the Vikings only a few days and it would be asking a lot of him to learn the team's offensive system well enough to be effective on Sunday.

Bradford is familiar with Vikings quarterbacks coach Pat Shurmur, but he has never played in offensive coordinator Norv Turner's system.

It remains to be seen when Bradford will take over the reins.

Hill has started 34 NFL games, the most recent coming in 2014 for the then-St. Louis Rams. His teams have a 16-18 record in games he started.
