Cincinnati Bengals LB Rey Maualuga cleared to practice

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga passed his preseason physical on Friday was cleared to practice.

Maualuga, 29, had been placed on the active/non-football injury list on Tuesday. The Bengals did not divulge the nature of the injury for Maualuga, who had dealt with hamstring issues and had to sit out the majority of Cincinnati's offseason work.

Maualuga was present for the team's minicamp in June but did not practice, working out on the sidelines and doing drills with trainers.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound Maualuga ranked third on the team with 75 tackles last season. In 100 career games with the Bengals, he has recorded 557 tackles and four sacks.
