Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham was charged with aggravated battery after he was arrested Monday in Miami just days before the start of training camp.

Bradham was involved in an incident last Thursday at a South Beach hotel. He was with a group of people when he became angry while waiting for service, complaining to a hotel worker before hitting the victim in the nose with a fist that knocked him to the floor, according to the police report.

The victim suffered a broken nose, bruises and a cut lip. He identified Bradham from photos the next day and Bradham turned himself in to police on Monday. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Aug. 2 on the second-degree felony charge.

"We are aware of the recent incident involving Nigel Bradham in Miami," the Eagles said in a statement. "We have been in contact with Nigel and the proper authorities. Due to the ongoing legal process, the Eagles will have no further comment at this time."

The 26-year-old Bradham came to the Eagles in March from the Buffalo Bills and signed a two-year, $7 million contract. He played under new Eagles offensive coordinator Jim Schwartz in Buffalo for four seasons.

The former Florida State player was expected to land a starting spot at outside linebacker this season for the Eagles.

Bradham was charged with marijuana possession in 2013, according to the Towanda (N.Y) News.
