NFL.com's Mike Garafolo reported the deal extends Schneider's contract through the 2021 season. According to ESPN.com, Schneider will "approach" that of the league's highest-paid GM, the Baltimore Ravens' Ozzie Newsome, who makes $3.75 million annually.

Schneider, who was named general manager in January 2010 and served as the team's executive vice president since 2013, was entering the final year of his contract. In his tenure, the Seahawks made five playoff appearances, won three NFC West crowns, two conference championships, and appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls, winning one.

Since 2012, the Seahawks advanced to at least the divisional round of the playoffs each year and won an NFC-best 46 regular-season games.

The Seattle Times noted that Schneider's first three draft classes netted cornerback Richard Sherman, linebacker K.J. Wright, linebacker Bruce Irvin, quarterback Russell Wilson, linebacker Bobby Wagner, safety Cam Chancellor, cornerback Byron Maxwell, offensive tackle Russell Okung, safety Walter Thurmond, safety Earl Thomas, wide receiver Golden Tate and cornerback Jeremy Lane.

Per Garafolo's report, Schneider, 45, will now focus on an extension for head coach Pete Carroll.
