Chicago Bears OL Nate Chandler retires

By The Sports Xchange

The Chicago Bears placed offensive lineman Nate Chandler on the reserve/retired list on Saturday.

Chandler's retirement came after the team also announced cornerback Charles "Peanut" Tillman had been placed on reserve-retired. Tillman used social media to announce his retirement on Monday, then signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Bears on Friday.

The 27-year-old Chandler signed with the Bears last month after being released by the Carolina Panthers in March.

Chandler appeared in 37 games with 19 starts in three seasons (2012-14) with the Carolina Panthers. He did not appear in any games in 2015 after being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury in September.

Chandler entered the league in 2012 as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA with the Panthers. He started his professional career as a defensive tackle before switching to the offensive line in 2013. All 19 of his career starts have been on the offensive side. His main position is right tackle.
