Michigan State football player Jermaine Edmondson claimed in the police report that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green used an open-hand slap to his face during a confrontation at an East Lansing (Mich.) restaurant.

The exchange led to Green being arrested on assault charges at Conrad's Grill. The 26-year-old, whose blood alcohol content was .10, is scheduled for arraignment on July 20, according to a court document.

The maximum penalty Green could face if found guilty of the assault charge is a $500 fine and/or 90 days in jail.

Edmondson, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Sunday, told police that he crossed paths with Green two nights earlier at another establishment.

"I was talking to one of my teammates when Draymond bumped into me and I said, 'Hey bro can you at least say excuse me?'" the senior cornerback said in a statement to the East Lansing Police Department. "I asked who he was to think that it's okay to bump into somebody without saying excuse me. He then said, 'I pay for (expletive) like you scholarships.' Then I started to say you have me messed up before I was choked out by two guys who were with him."

Green, a member of Team USA for the Rio Olympics this summer, played four seasons for Michigan State under coach Tom Izzo. Green is scheduled to attend Team USA's camp in Las Vegas July 18-21.

Green averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists in 2015-16, his fourth NBA season. He started 23 games in the Warriors' playoff run to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games.

In the NBA Finals, Green made headlines for getting into an altercation with Cavaliers star LeBron James. Green missed Game 5 of the championship series for an accumulation of flagrant fouls throughout the postseason.
