Eric Gordon agrees to four-year, $53 million deal with Houston Rockets

Eric Gordon has agreed to sign a four-year, $53 million contract with the Houston Rockets, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported Saturday night.

The 27-year-old guard met with Rockets officials Saturday in Southern California, where he and agent Rob Pelinka approved the deal.

The Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks also had significant interested in Gordon, although the Grizzlies didn't have the necessary cap space to bring him aboard.

Houston also signed forward Ryan Anderson to a four-year, $80 million deal Saturday. Gordon and Anderson were teammates on the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Rockets are retooling their roster around four-time All-Star guard James Harden after star center Dwight Howard left to sign a three-year, $70.5 million contract with his hometown Atlanta Hawks.

Gordon spent the first eight years of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers and, most recently, New Orleans, averaging 17.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 417 games.

Last year with the Pelicans, Gordon averaged 16.7 points while playing in only 45 games while battling a fractured finger bone.
