Dominika Cibulkova won her first-career grass court title Saturday by defeating Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 6-3 at the Eastbourne International in England.

Cibulkova lost a break point early in the first set but recovered by getting a decisive fourth break in the final game to win the opener.

Cibulkova broke Pliskova in the second set to take a 3-1 advantage. She later went up 5-2 after holding serve during an 11-minute game. Then, up 5-3, Cibulkova finished off her second WTA championship when Pliskova sailed a shot long at match point.

"It's very hard to describe, this has been my best week on grass and it just feels -- it just happened and I can't believe it," Cibulkova said. "I was playing really well today but the conditions were really hard for me and my opponent. It was a great week for me.

"This is my second time here and I'm gonna come back many more years."

Cibulkova is projected to move up to No. 18 in the WTA rankings.

Neither player faced a break point in the first set. Johnson won 75 percent of the service points. After trailing 3-1, Johnson won six of the next nine points to take a one-set lead.

Johnson's momentum carried over into the second set, taking a break point and a 2-1 lead. However, Cuevas later stormed back to tie the set 4-4. Johnson regained his form by winning another break to go up 6-5. He ended the match by converting his second match point with a drop volley.

Johnson, seeded No. 6 in the tournament, is projected to climb up to No. 29 in the ATP rankings.
