RENTON, Wash. -- Despite the four playoff trips, two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl victory in his four seasons in the NFL, the ceiling for Russell Wilson continues to climb higher.

Wilson posted the best season of any quarterback in Seahawks' history last season. He was the first player to throw for 4,000 yards in a season and his 34 touchdown passes were a franchise record as well. He became the first player in league history to throw at least three touchdowns in five straight games with a passer rating of at least 120.0.

And yet, with all that Wilson has accomplished he seems to still be getting better.

"He's made a clear step ahead," head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday. "His command is like all-time. His ability to move defenders with his eyes and his setups and things, he consistently doing that almost unconsciously he's so clued in. We saw him throw all over the field throughout the offseason and he's been strong and accurate and really precise about stuff. He's had a great offseason."

Wilson had a stellar practice to conclude mini-camp. He tossed a perfect deep ball into the arms of Tyler Lockett, who beat Richard Sherman for a touchdown. Later he broke from the pocket and hit rookie running back Alex Collins on the run for another score. Wilson was zipping the ball into tight windows with ease and made perhaps the most difficult position in sports look simple.

"It's taken all of this time to get to this point and he'll still improve, but you can really see him as a real true (veteran) now," Carroll said. "I think coming off last year with the great success he had in the second half of the season he's taken it right into the offseason and here we go."
