North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams is recovering after undergoing knee replacement surgery on Friday.

Williams had his right knee replaced in Charlotte N.C. The school said on its Twitter feed that the surgery was performed by Dr. Walt Beaver.

The tweet also said that the surgery went well and that Williams is "resting comfortably."

Williams is expected to be back by the July recruiting period.

Williams, 65, underwent surgeries on both knees last year but was still in pain and had a noticeable limp last season.

The Tar Heels lost to Villanova in last season's national championship game.
