The 6-foot-1, 247-pound Ragland was the 41st overall pick in the draft last month. The Bills moved up eight spots in the order to select him.

Ragland started the past two seasons at Alabama and was the SEC Defensive Player of the Year and a unanimous first-team All-American in 2015 after he led the Crimson Tide with 102 tackles. He finished his college career with 222 tackles, four sacks, 17 1/2 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and one interception.

With Ragland under contract, the Bills have signed five of their seven 2016 draft picks. Still unsigned are first-round defensive end Shaq Lawson of Clemson and fourth-round quarterback Cardale Jones of Ohio State.
