The Detroit Lions added veteran wide receiver Andre Caldwell to the roster on Thursday, signing the unrestricted free agent to a one-year contract.

The Lions also released center Darren Keyton and waived tight end Jordan Thompson.

The 31-year-old Caldwell spent the past four seasons with the Denver Broncos after four years with the Cincinnati Bengals. His best year came in 2011 with the Bengals when he had 37 receptions for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Last season for the Super Bowl-winning Broncos, Caldwell caught 10 passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns. He also had one catch for 22 yards against the Carolina Panthers in the Super Bowl.

The Broncos used Caldwell minimally on offense the past two years. During that time, he had just 15 catches, but he contributed on special teams as a returner.

Caldwell joins Marvin Jones and undrafted free agents Jay Lee, Quinshad Davis and Jace Billingsley as offseason additions to the wide receiving corps. Jones, who left Cincinnati in free agency to sign with the Lions, is expected to start along with veteran Golden Tate this season.
