Major League Baseball has yet to make a decision on the fate of two games between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins on May 30-31 in San Juan because of health concerns associated with the Zika virus outbreak.

El Nuevo Dia, a Spanish-language newspaper, reported Wednesday that the games would be cancelled.

Both teams recently voted on whether or not they wanted to travel in Puerto Rico later this month. The results were sent to Major League Baseball.

The players' union met with MLB officials on Monday to discuss the situation. Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday that the games could be moved to Miami, but under terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the union and MLB would have to agree on the location change.

The final two games of the four-game series between the teams were already scheduled for Miami on June 1-2.

Pirates and Marlins players would not disclose the results of their vote. Both teams have met with the Centers for Disease Control.

"There were some facts and things that were shocking to both sides that maybe we didn't know going into the meeting," Marlins pitcher and player representative Tom Koehler said. "By the end of the week, Major League Baseball and the Players Association should come out with a decision either way."

MLB officials are sensitive to the international importance of the games being played in Puerto Rico and the impact that a cancellation could have on the league's relationship with the country and potentially the Summer Olympics in Brazil, where the Zika virus also is an issue.

The second game of the series on May 31 is designated as Roberto Clemente Day, which honors the Puerto Rico native and former Pirates star.
