Albrecht is eligible for a redshirt season and was previously granted his transfer release. He was a two-year captain for the Wolverines but battled injuries in 2015 and played in only nine games. Albrecht said he rushed his return from double-hip surgery and should have spent the full season recovering.

He averaged 7.5 points and 3.9 assists per game as a junior, when teammates voted him co-MVP. Before he was shut down last season, he was averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 assists.

Purdue's campus is just one hour from Albrecht's home.

The Boilermakers return point guard P.J. Thompson, who started last season and averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 assists per game.
