The Cleveland Browns have decided not to pick up the fifth-year contract option on linebacker Barkevious Mingo, multiple media outlets reported Monday.

Picking up the option would have cost the Browns $11.9 million in guaranteed money to keep Mingo through the 2017 season.

Mingo was the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and the Browns took him for his pass-rushing skills. However, he had just seven sacks in his three NFL seasons, and did not have any in 2015.

He played much of the 2014 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery after the season.

The Browns also terminated the contract of linebacker Scott Solomon and waived wide receiver Saalim Hakim.

Solomon appeared in four games with Cleveland from 2014-15. Last year, he appeared in two games and recorded one tackle before being placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Hakim was signed after participating in the team's voluntary minicamp on a tryout basis.
