LAS VEGAS, May 2 (UPI) -- A patent paper trail is foreshadowing a comeback for Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather, who retired after his fight against Andre Berto last September, is 49-0. He was stripped of his WBO welterweight belt in July, after earning it in his bout against Manny Pacquiao.

He remains retired, despite recently telling sources that he has been "talking to CBS and Showtime" about a return.

More hints of a return came last month. Mayweather's company filed for the trademarks "TMT 50" and "TBE 50" on April 21, according to the US Patent & Trademark website. TMT"and "TBE" stand for "The Money Team," and "The Best Ever," respectively. Both names are obviously references to a potential 50th bout.

Trademark filings were submitted by Mayweather Promotions. Mayweather, 39, earned north of $220 million for his fight against Pacquiao on May 2, 2015 and said he has been offered nine figures for a return to the ring.
