Rory McIlroy aces No. 16 at Augusta National

Over the weekend, Rory McIlroy said he was happy to be under the radar heading into this week's Masters.

After Monday's practice round, McIlroy sent a strong message that while the spotlight might be on Jordan Speith and Jason Day, that he's ready to make a charge to complete the career grand slam.

McIlroy, a four-time major winner, began preparing for Augusta in a spectacular way on Monday by acing the 16th hole at Augusta National.

The 26 year old Irishman holed out with a seven iron from 170 yards, completing a 3&2 win in his match against England's Chris Wood.

"I don't think I have ever heard a roar that large in a practice round," McIlroy told reporters when asked about the crowd's reaction. "It was great. It was a nice practice round and a bit of a highlight. And it ended the match as well."

McIlroy said his game is in good shape and that he "playing well."
