TORONTO -- Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns defeated Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas in the final to win the skills contest during the NBA All-Star Game festivities on Saturday.

Towns won the event after each player missed several attempts to make the 3-point shot that completes the course when he finally hit on one.

"Just stay with the fundamentals," Towns said.

Two players compete simultaneously on a course that tests ball handling and passing, and finishes with a layup or dunk and a 3-point shot.

In the first round, guard C.J. McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers defeated guard Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers; Thomas defeated Denver Nuggets guard Emmanuel Mudiay; Towns beat out forward Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors; center DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings beat forward Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Thomas beat McCollum in the second round and Towns defeated Cousins in their second-round matchup.
