New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley will not be charged in connection with a rape accusation by a woman at a hotel last month.

"He's not going to be charged. There's no criminality," a high-ranking police official confirmed to the New York Daily News on Friday.

Police investigated a claim made by the woman on Jan. 30 that Bromley tried to rape her and then hit her with his car while fleeing a hotel room. The accusations were immediately denied by Bromley.

According to reports, the 23-year-old defensive tackle picked up the 26-year-old Brooklyn woman at her home and took her to a Manhattan hotel, where the alleged attempted rape occurred. The two met online.

"As we stated from the outset, the allegations against Mr. Bromley were completely false," Bromley's lawyer, Alex Spiro, said Friday. "Today, Mr. Bromley has been officially cleared of all wrongdoing. We are thankful to law enforcement for their efforts, and are hopeful that the focus can now return to Jay Bromley's remarkable story."

The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Bromley, a third-round draft pick in 2014, had 36 tackles in 16 games last season.
