DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- WWE Superstar John Cena is gearing up to drive the honorary pace car at NASCAR's biggest event, the 58th annual Daytona 500.

"John Cena is one of the most iconic WWE Superstars in history, a great actor and philanthropist," Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood III said to Fox Sports.

"We welcome him back to the World Center of Racing and our new motorsports stadium, this time to pace the field for The Great American Race," he continued.

The race which takes place Feb. 21, will mark the second time Cena serves as the honorary starter having previously done so at the Daytona 500 in 2012.

Currently, the 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion is recovering from a shoulder injury which has kept him away from competing in a WWE ring since January. Cena is most likely not going to be able to wrestle at the company's biggest event, WrestleMania on April 3 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

After the sports-entertainment extravaganza takes place, Cena will be seen hosting Fox's new competition realty show, American Grit.
