In six seasons with Philadelphia, Cooper had 169 receptions for 2,418 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Cooper's release comes approximately six weeks after the firing of coach Chip Kelly.

Kelly stuck with Cooper in the summer of 2013 after Cooper, who is white, was shown on video shouting racial terms at an African-American security guard at a concert.

Cooper later got into a training camp scuffle with cornerback Cary Williams. Eventually, tensions were diminished and Cooper made attempts to clear the air with teammates and he eventually made the team.

Cooper caught 47 passes and set career highs for yardage (835) and touchdowns (eight) in 2013. He was signed to a five-year, $22.5 million contract after the season.

In 2014, Cooper caught 55 passes for 577 yards and three scores.
