The Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders are working toward playing a regular-season game in Mexico City next season, ESPN reported on Thursday.

The proposed contest would be the first in Mexico City since the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers played there in 2005. Attendance for that game was 103,467.

The Raiders are still working through stadium issues this season after not being allowed to move to Los Angeles.

Houston is interested in expanding its Mexican fan base by playing in Mexico City.
