New York Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley was accused of attempting to rape a woman Saturday morning, according to multiple reports.
Police are reportedly investigating a claim made by the woman that Bromley tried to rape her and then hit her with his car while fleeing a hotel room.
According to the New York Post and New York Daily News, the two met online. The 23-year-old defensive tackle picked up the 26-year-old woman at her home and took her to a Manhattan hotel, where the alleged attempted rape occurred.
The reports also stated that when the woman did not want to have sex, Bromley tried to rape her. She then demanded a ride home. After he refused and left the hotel, she followed him and jumped onto his car as he tried to flee. She reported the incident to police about 4 a.m.
No charges have been filed but police are investigating.
In a statement, the Giants said: "We are aware of the situation and will continue to monitor it. We have notified the league office per the league's protocol. We will have no further comment as we understand this is an ongoing investigation."
Bromley, a second-round draft pick in 2014, had 36 tackles in 16 games this season.
