DraftKings, Fan Duel win ruling in New York

Fantasy sports companies DraftKings and Fan Duel received the right to continue operating in New York on at least a temporary basis after a panel of appeals judges ruled in their favor on Monday.

The state of New York attempted to shut out the two companies last fall, saying they are running illegal gambling operations. Monday's stay follows a decision from Dec. 11 in which the New York Supreme Court Justice Manuel Mendez ruled in favor of the state of New York before both companies were granted an emergency stay later that day.

Further court action on the case is slated for May.

New York legislators are expected to introduce bills that clarify the status fantasy sports sites.
