Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch to miss game against Minnesota Vikings

Injured Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch was ruled out late Friday night of the Seahawks' wild-card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday in Minneapolis.

Lynch was expected to play for the first time since Nov. 15 but did not travel with the team. After practicing with the Seahawks on Friday, Lynch told coaches that he felt like he would not be ready this week.

Lynch has been sidelined after surgery on his abdomen but had been a full practice participant all week and earlier in the day was listed as questionable on the team's injury report. He missed the final seven regular-season games due to the injury.

"He's looked really good in practice," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said before the announcement. He's practiced as hard as he ever has throughout the week just to prove to himself that he was right, and I think as well as everybody else, so he's ready to go and we're anxious to see him fit in."

In the Seahawks' win over the Arizona Cardinals to end the regular sason, Christine Michael was the starter at running back and he carried 17 times for 102 yards. Bryce Brown contributed a rushing touchdown last Sunday.

The Seahawks also will be without tight end Luke Willson, who is still dealing with a concussion suffered on Dec. 27.

Three players who missed the regular-season finale - strong safety Kam Chancellor (pelvis), left tackle Russell Okung (calf) and guard J.R. Sweezy (concussion) - are all listed as probable.
