OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors got star point guard Stephen Curry back on the court for Saturday night's game against the Denver Nuggets, but he left early after reinjuring his shin.

Coach Steve Kerr, recovering from back surgery, did not join the team on the bench for the game.

Curry played 14 minutes before getting hit on the shin, ending his night. He finished with five points on 2-of-6 shooting from the field, including 1 of 5 on 3-point attempts, and had four assists and two steals.

Curry sat out games Wednesday and Thursday in Dallas and Houston, respectively, with a bruised lower left leg. The Warriors suffered their second loss of the season to the Mavericks 114-91 in Curry's absence, before rebounding to beat the Rockets 114-110.

Warriors interim coach Luke Walton indicated before Saturday's game that he and his coaching staff would have a close eye on Curry, who suffered the injury in the Christmas Day victory over Cleveland and played through it three days later against Sacramento. No cut-and-dried minutes limit was put on the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player.

Kerr traveled to Texas with the team, leading to speculation that he might make his season coaching debut Saturday against the Nuggets.

Walton said he was told he would coach the game by Kerr at shootaround earlier in the day, noting that his boss has yet to get doctor's clearance to return to the bench after two off-season back surgeries.
